2

Design & Bid

If the design is simple, we get straight to bidding the project. If there are multiple elements and materials selection, a design of the site through 3D renders and construction plans helps to paint a clear project. We understand how important it is to marry the design with the budget.

The Dip Pool Difference

We’re not your average pool company. Every dip pool is customized to your home and vision.

Nashville Dip Pools is locally owned and operated by native Nashvillians. We love our great state, but let’s face it—Tennessee summers are HOT.

We realized that the people of Middle Tennessee with smaller yards needed an affordable way to beat the heat, too. As Middle Tennessee continues growing, homeowners
are losing backyard space. Dip pools require a fraction of the space that traditional pools do and take far less time
to install.

And because our team are experts on transforming any size space into a customized outdoor oasis, we can help you turn your yard into an outdoor living space you can enjoy year-round.

What You Need to Know

You have questions. We have answers. We're always here to help—especially when it comes to frequently asked questions.

How much does a dip pool cost?

We recommend a starting budget of $60,000 for our dip pool. Prices vary due to two main costs: installation and finishing.

The pool equipment and installation are consistent from project to project based on size. But, the finishing cost (hardscaping and landscaping around the pool) is variable due to design, slope of your yard, and other factors.

How long does installation take?

Once all the paperwork is done, the fun really starts! We average an installation window of 30 days.

Our installation process includes putting in the pool, getting it running, checking the heating system, and beautifying the pool with hardscaping and landscaping.

How are dip pools different from
regular pools?

Dip pools are spas. They can reach higher temperatures than traditional pools and come with 10+ jets for your leisure.

Additionally, dip pools are smaller than regular pools and aren’t as deep. They are for lounging and relaxation, not swimming and diving.

Because dip pools are smaller than traditional swimming pools, they require less water to fill up, so that’s extra savings for you, too!

Can I use my dip pool year-round?

Absolutely! Obviously, you can use our dip pools to cool off during hot Tennessee summers, but our dip pools also double as hot tubs in the winter. No need to winterize your pool; instead, keep it warm  throughout the entire cold season and enjoy!

What are your pools made of?

Our pools are made of fiberglass, a highly durable material that requires minimal maintenance and lasts a long time.

How long is the design and permit process?

We average a three-month lead time to begin installing your new dip pool.

In the months leading up to installation, we’re designing your pool, finalizing contracts, and completing the important permit paperwork.

What is a dip pool, and how is it different from a traditional pool?

Our pools are made of fiberglass, a highly durable material that requires minimal maintenance and lasts a long time.

How long does it take to install a dip pool from start to finish?

Most dip pool projects take about 4-6 weeks to complete from the start of excavation to final city sign-off. Here's a quick breakdown:

  • Installation & Plumbing (5–10 business days): We excavate, set the pool, plumb it to the equipment pad, and complete all required inspections during this phase.
  • Finishing Work (2–4 weeks): Hardscaping, turf, fencing, and landscaping add time depending on your specific design choices and contractor availability.
  • Final Inspection: Once complete, the city will issue a Use & Occupancy Certificate, officially closing out the project.

Weather, inspections, and scope of work can impact timing, but we work hard to keep your project moving and communicate at every step.

Do you offer financing options?

Most of our clients choose one of two popular financing options:

1. Home Equity Financing:
Many homeowners refinance their mortgage or use a HELOC (Home Equity Line of Credit) to fund their backyard renovation. Nashville Dip Pools does not facilitate this type of financing directly, but it's a popular choice.

2. Unsecured Personal Loans:
We partner with financing providers who offer unsecured loans for backyard projects. These loans are based on:

  • Your current interest rates
  • Your credit score at the time of application

The good news: most of these lenders offer a soft credit check, so you can explore your options without impacting your credit score. Funds are typically disbursed directly to you, which gives you control over payments and draw schedules throughout the project.

What is the permitting process like in the Nashville area?

Every in-ground pool in Metro Nashville requires a building permit, and the process involves multiple steps and departmental reviews. The entire process typically takes 2–4 weeks, depending primarily on the stormwater review timeline.

Here's a breakdown of the process:

1. Site Survey + Site Plan Required:
A recent property survey and a detailed site plan are needed to apply for the permit. This plan must show the pool location, setbacks, and stormwater mitigation strategy when required. Many homeowners refinance their mortgage or use a HELOC (Home Equity Line of Credit) to fund their backyard renovation. Nashville Dip Pools does not facilitate this type of financing directly, but it's a popular choice.

2. Permit Application & Department Reviews:
Once submitted, the application is reviewed by several departments, including:

  • Zoning
  • Site Plan Review
  • Addressing
  • Cross-Connect (Backflow Prevention)
  • Stormwater/Grading Review (typically the slowest phase)

3. Stormwater Review (2-4 weeks):
This department focuses on how much impervious surface your project adds and requires mitigation strategies like modified French drains and rain gardens.
75% of homes we build dip pools for are required to do stormwater mitigation. It’s common for this review to require plan revisions before final approval.

4. Permit Issued and Construction Begins:
Once all departments approve the application, a permit is issued, and construction can begin.

What kind of space do I need for a dip pool?

One of the best things about dip pools is how well they fit into small or unconventional spaces—and that’s our specialty! We love turning tight backyards into private oases. The only limitations we run into are utility easements or overhead/underground utility lines that restrict where a pool can go. That said, 99% of the time, we can find a creative way to make it work.

Does Nashville Dip Pools help with decks, hardscaping, and landscaping around my pool?

Yes—we offer a full, turnkey solution that includes all the finishing work needed to complete your backyard oasis. Whether it’s decking, hardscaping, landscaping, turf, fencing, or lighting, we can handle it all. These finishing touches are what truly bring the space to life and make your pool area feel complete. Since every backyard and budget is different, we tailor this part of the project to your specific vision and priorities.

What areas do you service?

Nashville is our home base, and we most frequently build dip pools in neighborhoods like East Nashville, Germantown, 12 South, Sylvan Park, Green Hills, and Charlotte Park.

We also serve the greater Middle Tennessee area—including Brentwood, Franklin, Spring Hill, Thompson Station, Mount Juliet, Lebanon, Old Hickory and Hendersonville.

From time to time, we take on unique projects across Tennessee and Kentucky. If you’re outside the Nashville area but have a special project in mind, we’d love to hear about it.

How does a Dip Pool compare to more traditional pools?

There are a few key differences, but these are the main features:

  • Size: Typically, 7–22 ft long and 3–4.5 ft deep — ideal for soaking, cooling off, or heated relaxation
  • Space: Designed for smaller yards where full-size pools aren’t practical
  • Cost: Less expensive to install and maintain than large pools
  • Maintenance: Holds 3,000 gallons vs. 20,000+ in a traditional pool — meaning fewer chemicals, lower energy bills, and simple upkeep

Why many homeowners & Airbnb owners choose Dip Pools

These are some of the clear benefits:

  • Dip pools are perfect for Nashville’s smaller lots
  • Faster installation timeline
  • They're great for year-round use—heated or cooled
  • They include luxury features like spa jets, LED lighting and smart controls
  • Lower costs, less maintenance and a smaller footprint
  • Adds significant home value and rental appeal

Can the installation process be scheduled around my Airbnb bookings?

Yes! In fact, more than half of our clients are Airbnb or short-term rental owners, so we’re very familiar with coordinating around guest reservations. We’ll work with your booking calendar to schedule construction in between stays or during lower occupancy periods. When needed, we also take extra steps to block off construction zones and ensure the safety and privacy of your guests. Our goal is to make the installation process as smooth and unobtrusive as possible.

What kind of maintenance does a dip pool require?

Dip pools are easier to maintain than traditional pools thanks to their smaller size. You’ll still need to brush and vacuum the pool like you would with a standard pool, but the process is much quicker—usually taking up half the time. Chemical balancing works the same way, but since the water volume is lower, you’ll use smaller amounts of chemicals, making it more cost-effective overall. Less pool, less hassle.

Can dip pools be used year-round?

Absolutely—that’s one of the best features of a dip pool! Thanks to their compact size, dip pools can be efficiently heated for year-round use. Most of our clients keep the heater off during the summer and use the pool as a refreshing escape. Then, in the cooler months—while most traditional pools are closed—dip pool owners turn up the heat to 90–100°F and enjoy it like a giant in-ground hot tub. Want to take it up a notch? Add spa jets for the ultimate spa experience.

How much does a dip pool cost?

At Nashville Dip Pools, most projects fall into two pricing categories:

1. Fixed Costs (Pool Installation)
This includes the pool shell, excavation, plumbing, equipment (the pump, heater, filter), and utility connections.

  • Smaller pool (7'x10' ) fixed costs start at about 50k
  • Larger pools (10'x20') fixed costs start at about 80k

Costs may vary based on:

  • Pool Size
  • Equipment upgrades (automation, saltwater, lighting)
  • Site access & utility complexity

2. Variable Costs (Backyard Finishes)
This covers your custom finishes like:

  • Coping & decking
  • Landscaping & fencing
  • Lighting, turf, retaining walls, drainage

This portion can range from a few thousand dollars to much more depending on your design vision.

Site Assumptions: Our estimates assume a fairly flat yard, easy access, and straightforward utility runs. More complex sites may require additional work, which we’ll review during your site visit.

Our Pricing Approach: We provide upfront, all-in quotes with full transparency—no surprise charges down the road.
